Supporting the Autistic: Kyle Chin makes strides

Kyle Chin is a very happy, loving child who happens to have autism.

With the support of his mother and Jamaica Autism Support Association co-founder, Kathy Chang, the 14-year-old boy has made tremendous strides despite living with the disorder.

Loop News caught up with Kathy Chang as Kyle attended swimming lessons this week for the second in a series of Autism Awareness Month stories.

“He has overcome a lot of obstacles; he is not a quitter,” said Kathy Chang of her son.

The JASA president said emotional support is crucial for autistic children, adding that it can be very stressful and expensive for parents raising a child with the disorder.
